About the Author
Timothy Chambers believes that painting isn’t something one chooses so much as something one is compelled to do. After being trained as a young child by his father, distinguished artist William T. Chambers, Tim spent more than 10 years in apprenticeships with other great artists, including Richard Lack, Henry Hensche, and Cedric B. Egeli. Tim continues the Chambers family tradition by teaching his own children to paint. He also teaches students in workshops across the US and in Central America. He resides in beautiful rural Virginia with his stupendously beautiful wife and children. I gave t his as a Christmas present to my grand daughter who is painting portraits. It has been very helpful to her.
Good general advice, but not enough examples of sketching and painting.
nice pamphlet covering portraiture in various media
I was very impressed with this little book. First of all becausethe cover page was big enough that I could really see what thepainter was doing. The rest of the book is abig help.
This book was very helpful in demonstrating how to transfer you subject's portrait on to canvas successfully.This is accomplished in clear, easily understandable language.
I wish there had been some different facial expressions presented, so the book was not quite so generic.
Love this book. It's a small book, but great info, well organized, and valuable information that makes you a better artist. Good examples of how to accomplish great portraits.
I haven't had much formal training with oils or portraiture, and I found this little book to have a number of handy tips/techniques.
