Before I bought this book j thought the price point was kind of high, but when it arrived I realized why! The book is huge. Its 1388 pages long and I'm really excited to read it.
So comprehensive, and adds a new twist to her real feelings for her mother Aurelia. I only miss one or two replies to enrich the correspondence.

Great book!
The vast majority of these letters are from Sylvia to her mother, so those get a bit depressing. She tries so hard to make everything seem okay and conform to (lame, boring, white) 1950s society. I am a huge nerd and had fun comparing the letters to journal entries from the same period. Whee!The footnotes are terrible--I would rather get a brief note explaining why someone is important than a birth/death date and the person's address. Why do I need to know where Haven House's maid lived? I also don't care about whether an object mentioned is still included with the letter (spoiler: typically not) or whether the letter's date was deduced from postmark or not. Surely these notes are of interest only to the most pedantic of Plath fans.Also, Kindle readers beware: the ebook doesn't include formatting that would enable you to easily flip from one year's batch of letters to another. The letters are all lumped together and you have to get creative with searches or make wild guesses at locations to skip around.
