I didn't realize that this boxes set is not the "real" Amelia Bedelia, but stories written by Peggy Parrish's nephew about AB as a child. It is not the same thing at all...I'm a little disappointed.
I grew up reading Amelia Bedelia, I expected these books to follow similar story-lines, or at least just as silly. They were not nearly as silly, and I really don't feel that they are meant for 1st graders, I think they would be appropriate for 2nd and 3rd graders. My daughter did not enjoy them as much as I thought she would, and neither did I for that matter. I will stick with the original Amelia Bedelia.
My six year old granddaughter cannot stop reading this. She reads it out loud whether we want to hear it or not. Amelia is timeless.
I ordered these books for my 8 year old granddaughter who is struggling to keep up with her class on reading. The books have helped her to see that reading CAN be fun! She's enjoyed the books, and reads herself to sleep almost every night.
My daughter and I love reading these books together, and they're also easy enough for her to read on her own (she's 6 and a very advanced reader for her age). We love Amelia Bedelia, these books have given us many laughs together. I will be buying the next box set for her so we can continue to enjoy this great character!
My 6 yr old granddaughter has started reading chapter books by herself, I remember how much her mommy loved Amelia Bedelia so I'm hoping she loves them too. I bought this set as a Christmas gift. I would recommend them for any new readers or kids who like to be read to. These arrived quickly, properly packed, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Who doesn't love Amelia Bedelia's antics? You get four great books in this set, the books are a good deal for the price of this product, but don't expect the box to stay intact. My daughter opened it for Christmas a few hours ago and with minimal use the corners of the box are already breaking. Some great positives, however, is that the price you pay for this is a great deal for the books alone, I would purchase it again knowing the box wouldn't hold up. Also, we were surprised to find a sheet of stickers inside, a great plus for my 7-year-old!
Very nice set of books for my granddaughter.. She was so happy to receive them. She has read and owes other Amelia Bedelia Chapter books. I would highy recommend them .
